Since 1992, the foundation has continuously provided the award with 68 student athletes receiving the award. It is presented annually to recognize the top William L. Dickinson High School track and field athletes.

The award bears Robert Rodenkirchen’s name in recognition of his significant athletic career, which included several Hudson county, New Jersey state and 5 world records in sprinting events – 60 yd., 100 yd., 100 m, 220 yds., 200 m, 4×800 relay and his life-long involvement with the Track and Field community in New Jersey and New York.
